Title: Virus
Description: Help! My computer's in danger...

Executioner - July 25, 2006 07:00 AM (GMT)
I was downloading a cracked game (I know I shouldn't) and all of a sudden a pop-up (I WAS USING FIREFOX)... Now this balloon like creature appears and advertises a cleaning product (windows). I try it and it say I have to buy it for $59.99 :(... I used Ad-Aware SE Personal to remove these and it removed it all, but there's one folder that can't be removed and it's the one who's redirecting that stupid site to my PC. Everytime I restart my PC, a pop-up appears, a toolbar offering porn w/e appears (on folders like my documents)... I really need to know what to do... Which program should I use? :( :( :( :( :( :(

Try system Restore back to a few days ago.

A system Restore keeps all files that you have downloaded, saved, etched onto your hard drive, so it will probably just restore anything you deleted, or at least thats what happens when I do it.

Get Zone Alarm or something and set the settings "tight", works for me.

That way you decide whatever gets online.

Another option is to press CTRL+ALT+DELETE and go to process' and see if there is anything unusual there.

I tried deleting suspicious hidden folders but there's still a 'Toolbar' and a 'Spyware' according to Trust Cleaner...

Meh I'm getting Zone Alarm...

Gaylord Perry - July 26, 2006 11:54 AM (GMT)
Get a nifly little program called AVG and scan that shit.

Kingturtle2007 - July 26, 2006 12:52 PM (GMT)
Yeah, you should get Zone alarm

Mini-Me - July 26, 2006 01:06 PM (GMT)
Zone Alarm won't do anything to the virus or spyware. AVG ftw.

Executioner - July 26, 2006 07:12 PM (GMT)
Ah man my PC is loaded with spyware and I can't do anything about it.. I'm taking it to the shop tommorow...

I'm getting AVG..

Edit: does AVG delete spyware?

DGM - July 26, 2006 08:21 PM (GMT)
Nope. There's Spybot - Search & Destroy for that..

What source did you use to download the game?

pumpkin head - July 26, 2006 10:12 PM (GMT)
Safe mode it then use Spybot and Adaware.

Executioner - July 26, 2006 11:06 PM (GMT)
skunk if I let you visit that darn site, the same thing happened to me will happen to you then you get  and warn me :P

Mzeppelin - July 26, 2006 11:13 PM (GMT)
I tried downloading GTA3 from Limewire a couple of months ago, and got a virus similar to yours. I got rid of it by:

Running a program called 'Ad-Aware' a couple of times
Searching the computer for '.tmp' files and then deleting all of them

Also used Norton Antvirus in Safe Mode.

Kingturtle2007 - July 26, 2006 11:17 PM (GMT)
The Spybot is a good program.

Executioner - July 27, 2006 01:49 AM (GMT)
Mzeppelin, I searched for these files and found 2456 :P Should I delete them all? lol

Executioner - July 27, 2006 02:28 PM (GMT)
Guys how do you stop the screen from shaking????? :S :S

Mini-Me - July 27, 2006 03:38 PM (GMT)
That's most likely a hardware problem. How old is your system?

Executioner - July 27, 2006 05:46 PM (GMT)
2 years old... and it stopped... That was the first time it does that...

Man this topic is getting weird.

Indeed. I'd run a full system scan if I were you. Delete some of your cookies too.
