Title: Metal Gear Solid (The Movie)

Don Ice - May 24, 2006 12:49 PM (GMT)
A live-action Metal Gear Solid film was reported by Anime News Network on May 4, 2006, stating that Hideo Kojima, creator of the Metal Gear Solid games, announced on a recent Hide-Chan Radio podcast that Konami has tenative plans to produce a Metal Gear Solid movie.

GameSpot has reported that at E3 2006, Hideo Kojima officially confirmed the Metal Gear Solid movie in a Kojima Productions catalog listing Kojima Production's upcoming games given to attendees of Konami's press conference held on May 9, 2006. Many attendees thought it was a joke, however, on the last page of the catalog was a page-long article on the movie project which shows that Kojima is very serious in making this movie.

The GameSpot article states that in the page-long article, Kojima assures readers that Uwe Boll will have nothing to do with the Metal Gear Solid movie and GameSpot quotes Kojima as stating in the article: "I have received many offers to adapt Metal Gear Solid. It has taken a long time, but we have finally settled on an arrangement," said the revered designer. "False facts aside, a movie project is underway. I have finalized a Class-A contract with a party in Hollywood." Kojima had not revealed what "party in Hollywood" is involved nor did he reveal any possible directors and stars.

GameSpot speculates that David Hayter, the English voice actor of Solid Snake, could possibly be Solid Snake in the live-action movie since he has done live-action acting in the past with Guyver: Dark Hero. It has also been speculated that Hayter could play a part in the writing process, given his screenwriting experience on the first two X-Men feature films.

Plot

The plot is unknown at the current time as the movie has only just been announced. It's likely to follow the same plot of the orginal Playstation game Metal Gear Solid but nothing has been confirmed. It is also possible that the movie will center around the events of the original Metal Gear, for MSX.

I don't really like those kinds of movies with all those technology and stuff.

skunkoncrunk - May 24, 2006 10:04 PM (GMT)
No surprise to me that they're making a movie. I was really wondering when they ever would. Sounds cool to me and it will be interesting to see as to what they decide to do with the movie.

Sweet - May 25, 2006 09:19 AM (GMT)
cool is it going to be like the story of one of the games or a whole new thing? and isn't there a halo movie coming out?

Don Ice - May 25, 2006 01:16 PM (GMT)
The storyline will follow the third Metal Gear game (The one for PS1)

Here's what you should expect in the movie: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ly1t5ONeA0E...%20gear%20solid

If they are coming out with this. Then the Splinter cell movie should be coming out soon as well. :ninja: :ninja:

Ah Metal Gear Solid's storyline? That's awesome! Although I never played the first one, but I know the story is good! And every characters there are just unique~ :D

Don Ice - May 25, 2006 02:23 PM (GMT)
^ Yeah you told me

The game was a very gritty (Dark) game apart form the other games.

now a splinter cell movie would be even better but i wouldn't like it if they had a different main character then Sam Fisher he is ther best.

Don Ice - May 26, 2006 09:04 AM (GMT)
How would a splinter cell movie be even better? It's a 100% Stealth game. I would fall asleep if I had to watch a splinter Cell movie.

I think Splinter Cell could be a great movie.

Metal Gear Solid is also a stealth game... with some trippy characters. A good series nonetheless.

Don Ice - May 29, 2006 12:08 PM (GMT)
MGS Is not enitirely a stealth game. It has different kind of gaming style to it.

Kingturtle2007 - May 29, 2006 01:40 PM (GMT)
If they based the movie on the upcoming game then no the game wouldn't all be stealth.

Andre - May 29, 2006 06:41 PM (GMT)
Wouldn't it be a series? Like first MGS1, Then 2, and then 3. All of them based on the games(Duh). I would have that whole collection.

Oh yeah, eventually MGS4 would come.

Mr.Easy - May 29, 2006 09:12 PM (GMT)
I knew they would be making a movie on MGS.

They probably will, if this movie turns out to be a success.

Andre - May 29, 2006 11:13 PM (GMT)
I always said that MGS would be an awsome movie. Im sure it would be a success because of all the MGS fans out there.

Kingturtle2007 - May 30, 2006 12:27 AM (GMT)
Depends on how many MGS fans there are.

There's no fans... that's why the games sell so well.
