Title: The Da Vinci code.

Jedihunter - May 19, 2006 04:07 AM (GMT)
Anyone else a little pissed off by this movie?

Now sure, its a peice of fiction right?

But so was Grand Theft Auto, and just because it showed people making love it gets taken off of shelves? but yet the Da Vinci Code-
  • Writes the Catholics as jackasses.
  • Defies all Religions, Judaism, Christianity and Islam.
  • Claims Jesus wasnt Lord.
  • Says that the Jews basicly had prostitutes in their temples.
  • Is essentialy Biased against Jews.

What else can you do to piss off a larger portion of people? put in a Black dude getting shot by a Native American?...

Apperantly, Anti Semetism is fine if its in fiction, now excuse me while I go write a novel about destroying the Jews, good day.

Defying your religions rules is a crime? That's the story and they're sticking to it. Why should they change it?

No, that was not exactly my point.

I just don't understand why a game with a "Hidden" scene, can be taken off shelves completely, when it can only offend.. what? Hackers.

And this offends 25%+ of the communicative world (Christians.. Jews and Muslims) and no one gives a hoot?

Bias.

Mini-Me - May 19, 2006 04:35 AM (GMT)
Hot coffee didn't offend hackers. It offended the parents who took the risk in buying their son (or daughter) a game with extreme violence in it, only to be told that they could access pornography in it.

The way you said GTA was taken off the shelves sounded like you wanted the movie to be cancelled or not shown.

Now you're pissed off because a movie goes against what you believe, but think about other movies that do that. Movies with extraterrestrials in them (not the same, but the same principle) probably offend some people (somehow) and this all goes back to the religion topic at VGH. Anything is possible until it's proven wrong. Dan Brown has a different view on religion than many other people, but is he wrong? No. Are you wrong? No.

Let's not get into a religion debate though. Just keep it on the movie.

GG - May 19, 2006 04:36 AM (GMT)
I absolutely agree! This movie just puts blatant views on the religions...

plus its giving everyone a second thought about christianity and the lot. has everyone forgotten that religion is really just about not being a jackass to one anotehr?

The movie is probably shit.
Anyone who believes what Dan Brown has been reading is an idiot.
With the greatest respect anyone who gets offended by it is an idiot.

I don't believe in Christianity, but even if you do why do you care what someone else thinks? People who choose to believe in fairytales (sorry thats probably really gonna offend people, I'm not calling any religion fairytales, merely metaphorsizing) are hardly in the position to get offended by anything.

Kingturtle2007 - May 19, 2006 07:46 PM (GMT)
I have read the book, as a christian I am offended. But then again Jesus told us that if we really are christians then we stick to the bible.

People read the book and they think that they know everything right away. They correct me as if they read the bible. "The believed something untrue without learning the truth"

But anyone that does believe in the story but is a true christian is just turning his back on God... It's like saying you believe in Dan Brown but not the prophets.

Dan Brown is just a person who was bored and manipulated the stories of Jesus so he can make millions of Dollars, since everyone knows that conspiracies really are interesting... Plus Religion (especially) Chrisianity is really mysterious...

He used the right elements to make a fictional story, without thinking what he might do to the christian community. :ninja: :ninja:

He wrote one of the best books (according to sales) because he was bored? I doubt that. Writing is a writers passion.

*stares*
Is it hypocrisy week? You say he used the right elements to write a fictional story, then go on about how it will offend people. Last time I checked, fictional meant make-belief.

Pug Dog - May 20, 2006 12:59 AM (GMT)
Stop bitching, Jedi. This book is fictional. I believe Dan Brown himself even said the views in his book were not to be taken seriously. Which, some people even still fail to heed, thus sparking up all kinds of religious debates. You saw them on TV.

The only thing that is true about the book is the Priory of Sion, which did actually exist, and Opus Dei.

Gah! Shutup! Nobody is turning their back on god. Nobody is believing Dan Brown. Nobody is believing anything! Atleast they shouldn't.

That about sums this whole topic up.

I mean, how can you get so offended over a book that's make-believe? In fact, Christians pretty much get offended over everything. Its like they can't bear any wrongdoing against their beliefs.

Makes me even happier I'm not religious.

But whatever, if you consider Dan Brown a blasphemous heretic for going against what you hold so close, thats your problem.

DK - May 20, 2006 04:14 PM (GMT)
I think Jedi needs to realize that this is fictional and a movie, time to calm down. :)

Kingturtle2007 - May 21, 2006 04:12 PM (GMT)
Yeah man, I think me and Jedi have the same sipiritual faith in our christian lives... but you don't see me pissed about the movie. :ninja: :ninja:

Which means you don't have the same amount of faith.

DK - May 21, 2006 05:28 PM (GMT)
No, the movie is fictional. You shouldn't be getting upset over it.

Australian Prick - May 22, 2006 08:06 AM (GMT)
Oh my god! Jews have been having tough tits throughout history! You'd think someone would be nice to them but now this pissbog makes a movie that could make jackass's kill people of another religion. Next there will be movies saying that meditation is for retards!

pumpkin head - May 22, 2006 12:06 PM (GMT)
Well I think I'm the most religious person on here because I live life like Jesus wanted, with love in my heart, peace in my soul and not wasting my life trying to defend some guy who died 2000 years ago. I also don't get offended by others, because it is a sign of weakness, and is therefore unholy. I'm not Christian, but I live by the 10 commandments without even thinking about it or having to read a book of fables to guide. I KNOW WHATS RIGHT AND WRONG and so should you all regardless of whose bullshit story you want to believe.

Gaylord Perry - June 17, 2006 09:20 PM (GMT)
Being a Christian I question myslef? Could it all be possible?

well, i have my own views on the movie. the thing you ahve to realize is that da vinci code is FICTION. too many idiots are going to theaters watching this movie thinkings its absolutely factual, not realizing that theyre being easily manipulated dumbasses.
jedi hunter, if there are people of so little faith in their religion that watching a movie or reading a work of fiction radically changes their beleifs, you ahve to really wonder if the had any faith in the first place that was worth a spit. i encourage fellow christians to see it in order to test their faith, to see if their beleifs can hold strong in the face of a peice of entertainment.
dan brown said that he himself was a christian, dont you think thats means something considering what hes written?
