May 8, 2006 - Shown at last year's Sony conference, the next-generation Tekken title made everyone (especially the girls who love Jin) salivate for more. Last year's trailer was only a couple of seconds long, but this year Namco-Bandai and Sony showed something that had significantly more substance. And it had an official name to boot!



Officially titled Tekken 6, the trailer pitted one of the most popular characters in Jin Kazama against Lili, a newcomer who made her debut in Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection (which you can play on the PSP at this year's E3). Their fight took place in a new location, which resembles the Cathedral stage from Tekken 5. It's not known whether the trailer was done in real-time or if it was CG; the quality of the video was significantly less than last year's trailer, but it was better than most real-time demos. One thing that's for sure is that the action is not what you would expect from a Tekken game. Instead of a traditional fight, it was far more chaotic, with Jin sending Lili back several feet into the air, where she gets layed out by the surrounding debris.

The trailer ends with Jin's rival, Hwoarang, crashing through a stain-glass window with his motorcycle as he's about to deliver the coupe de grace to Lili.

No other information about Tekken 6 or Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection has been revealed, but we'll have more information as soon as E3 starts on Wednesday. In the meantime, why don't you check out our comprehensive article on the history of Tekken?

Tekken is the typical story... you have a bunch of semi-complicated characters.. who you really don't care about, and you have them fight over and over again for some unsaid reason.

Oh yeah! the King of Fighters tournament... so what exactly is the reward anyways?
