A new .wmf image exploit has surfaced onto our beloved internets and anyone running Windows and/or using Internet Explorer are at risk! Our good friends at GTAForums have more details on how to patch up this problem. Sorry Mac users, we've missed out again on another virus scare.

Answer: Opens up a remote shell on your comp, where the attacker can execute commands without you knowing.

People still use wmf files? I suppose its one of those forgotten formats that probably would be able to be exploited which is why. Jaysus! Cheers for the news though :thumbs up:

Don't know if this is connected to the topic, but a bunch of people just added me on MSN. I know videojunkie44 and bigbear (whom I didn't allow), but there was this sigserv8@mental.styles.net and some other thing.
Mr.Easy - December 31, 2005 10:29 PM (GMT)
I've heard about this, this sucks.

Probably not.
As long as you are; browsing with FF - which you are, have disabled the built-in Windows component that enables the viewing WMF files, Start» Run» type
| CODE |
| regsvr32 /u shimgvw.dll |
Have a decent Anti-Virus and the latest updates (security and whatnot), then you should be safe. It's only if you n00bishly go onto Google and search for WMF files, that you'll be at risk
